Happy New Year, everyone!!! :)

Personally, it’s just another day for me. I don’t do new resolutions, either. Besides, the “time” as we know it is just another men’s invention anyway — and commercialized such events deep into our society. Christmas for an example. The real birthday of Jesus is sometime in January, you know.

But it’s the spirit, you say? Bah humbug! :?

I’m FINALLY getting Verizon FiOS after waiting for it at least a year! :D I ordered the 5/2 package, which includes a free wireless router, over the phone this morning; however, I couldn’t get ANY discounts whatsoever, not even a waiver of the activation fee ($19.99). Oh well. :?

Anyway, the installation date is January 8! :D Hope it goes smoothly…

I’ve been using ZoneAlarm for about 5 years, and I even upgraded to its security suite last year to get rid of Norton AntiVirus 2006 which was a resource hog; however, ever since version 6.5, I haven’t been able to leave my computer on overnight because of its frequent crashes. Its core engine, TrueVector, would crash under heavy stress and even lead to BSoD occasionally. Its new version 7 (beta) also became a resource hog like Norton, taking up around 80MB of my precious RAM!

Since my license is almost up, I’ve switched to Kaspersky Internet Security. Guess what!? No more crashes, and it takes only around 25MB!!! Its GUI could be improved, though it really isn’t that important.

So, adieu ZoneAlarm! Good riddance… o_O

I received a fairly expensive gift today from one of my online friends whom I honestly didn’t expect anything from since she has a lot of things on her plate. While I feel a little uncomfortable, I also feel very honored knowing that I was on her list of people to shop for and in the fact that I’m remembered by someone. It’s really nice to know that someone’s thinking of you! My best friend hasn’t gotten me anything for holidays even when we were in school and not even for my birthday!

Anyway… thank you, AJ! :) Check your e-mail…

I distinctively feel like I was French kissing someone — sucking on her tongue — in this dream, but I don’t remember who she was. I just feel it was a she and that we were close. I don’t know why, but it kind of grosses me out. Heh. :D

Anybody using GPS UT-41 Receiver with Microsoft Streets & Trips under Windows XP Pro?

S&T detects the receiver just fine, although I’ve to plug it in after starting the software, and I’ve changed its baud rate to 4800; however, it just won’t get fixed to satellites even after 30 minutes by the window facing South. I haven’t had a chance to take it outside and be stationary for 20-30 minutes. But it should work by the window, no?

EDIT: Got an answer to my question here.

EDIT 2: I’m returning this for a refund as it just won’t connect to any satellites even after 2 hours! I’m hoping to get this one instead.

Since I now have a laptop, I purchased a GPS receiver for $29.99 plus $7 S/H and got Streets & Trips 2007 for it. Not knowing that most GPS receivers don’t work indoors, I was pulling my hair out last night! Anyway, I now have a GPS Navigation… yay! :D

I decided to get one, because we often get lost on complex highways (interchanges).

EDIT: See this.

Once a month when I get paid, I treat myself and my mother to Sushi Land here in Beaverton. I’ve tried a few other places, but they seem to use freshest fishes and other dishes, such as Krab Salad and Flying Fish Egg. I especially like Tuna and Egg. Anyhow, they use a rail system that goes around the main table, so you just grab what you want to eat. You can also ask one of the chefs who make sushis within the round rail to make you what you want right on the spot! Best of all, you can see these chefs right in front of you just like original Japanese sushi bars/restaurants, so you know what you eat is fresh and clean. On top of that, the price ranges from $1 to $3 per dish which at least has 2 sushis, so you don’t have to worry about emptying your wallet. Personally, I’ve never went over $20 — and that’s for two people.

One thing to complain about is that the place is too small; but then, it might be their business strategy.

I went in to change the settings of my implants this afternoon. For the left side, the voltage was reduced to 3.3 from 3.6 as I’ve been having problems with my right ankle; for the right side, one more contact (#2, I believe) has been turned on per his suggestion. He told me there are some cases where it helped a few patients with Generalized Dystonia. We’ll have to wait and see. :?

By the way, it was damn difficult to find their new location. We were lost for almost an hour! Convenient location my ass…
